My Story

Charitable organisations among others have been struck massively by Covid-19; and to name a few we have mental health charities such as Mind & MindOut, Samaritans and Southdown homelessness prevention, as well as many other charities like animal charities that preserve our mother nature for future generations.

Currentlly I am at Mill View Hospital and although it's not exactly where I want to be, shit happens, people make mistakes, but after all we learn from our mistakes - because everyone is capable of changing for the better. And with that, everyone in this hospital is healing for something one way or another, and thus we are all in this together, which we should highlight because no one deserves to suffer alone,

I want to thank all the healthcare professionals who work here that have been a part of my path of awakening and healing; to include a few names: Jane, John, James, Toby, Nomsa, Eleni, Sharmella, Kevin, Dr. Taylor, among many others.

In 2018, a close friend of mine took her own life to suicide; ever since then i've always wanted to be a mental health advocate as a firm believer that no one should face mental health conditions by themselves without the help of others.

Men are particularly prone to suicide since they feel like they can't speak up about their mental health without being percieved as something less than a "man" and with that I believe we must therefore redefine masculinity.

It is okay, not to be okay; and it's much better to talk to someone rather than suffer alone. No one deserves to be or suffer alone, so with that I would like to raise money particularly for mental health charities as those with mental health conditions and/or other underlying health conditions have been particularly vulnerable during this pandemic.

Lastly, I would just like to send my prayer and empathy to families who have lost loves ones to this pandemic that was poorly dealt with by our conservative government. It fills me with frustration to think about how this could have be dealt with so much better if we had a labour government in the first place but hey... I'm no politician; but a firm believer in a new green deal so that we can live in a more sustainable post-virus world; where we seek to protect future generations and meet UN's 2020 goals by practicising oneness: that is being one with mother nature, the universe, human kind, and oneself.

Because although coronavirus is of great concern, it is important to acknowledge that corona virus could be merely a distraction of what worse is yet to come as we continue to face a climate emergency, where climate injustice must be met.

Peace and love to all, kindest regards,

Olie Martins
